Ive took the engine out of my mk2 gti and wish to know seen as the engine and box im putting back in it are 2nd hand, how can i inspect the clutch to see if it needs replacing as im a bit skint at the min and dont want to if i didnt need to
I know while its out i should BUT like i said im a bit brassic at the min :-(

only way to tell is to pull the box off and strip it down

thanks mate, i know that bit, i mean know i can see the clutch what am i looking for to see if its in sound condition

ahh ok, look at the clutch plate and see how much meat is left on there, you may get some measument from somewhere like haynes i'll have a look

nah no thickness spec just says look for signs of wear, scoring etc, have you got a decent pic of the clutch plate
