A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Alright Folks,
After reading through some of the threads I notice that gear selection problems on the Mk3 seems quite common. However, the threads mostly talk about problems getting into first. I have MK3 16V, P reg with 110,000 on the clock. The problem I have at the moment is that I cannot select any gear with the engine running. With the engine off all gears can be selected, clutch feels as normal. With the engine running, it will not go into any gear. If you start it up in gear, then you can't get it out of gear.
This appeared suddenly, I pulled up to a barrier after a 1.5 hour drive in London traffic with many normal gear changes, when the barrier lifted I tried to put it into first and found I was unable to select any gear. According to the AA bloke, who looked at it for a full 45 seconds, my clutch has "worn out".
Unfortunately I don't have the technical knowledge to challenge his diagnosis but if this is correct wouldn't I have noticed it getting increasingly harder to select gears prior to this. Rather than a sudden failure.
Anyone encounterd this before or have any ideas. Any comments would be appreciated. Does it sound like I need a new clutch or is this due to something else.
Nobler.
