g60 clusters into 8V box?

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

will g60/vr6 clusters fit an 8v box? just that we're putting a g60 in the wifes cabby and i it'd be easier than fitting a g60 box
A:

By clusters I assume you mean the gearbox cups for the driveshafts? If so the std MK1 cups will 90mm, and G60/VR shafts will be 100mm.
G60/VR driveshafts will be too long anyway, you want to keep your original cabby shafts and gearbox
If you wanted to fit a gearbox with 100mm shafts, late cabby & scirocco shafts have 100mm flanges and fit straight in.

sorry by clusters i mean gears

Ok, any 020 gearbox will bolt in, and hook up to the G60 lump, you just need a clutch kit & flywheel to match the gearbox. If the car is a 1.3 or lower, you'll need to chop off the gearbox mount and reweld it in a different position, but since its a cabby I assume its a 1.5 or larger lump?
If you go with a MK2 gearbox, you'll need the 100mm flanges from a late cabby or scirocco if you dont have them already. What engine is in it at the moment?
A:

its a 1.8 gti 8v on an H-plate, im going to use the existing 8v gearbox on the g60 engine when its put in, im just wanting to know wether the gear clusters from a g60 and a vr6 will fit in the 8v box so i get the same ratios as a g60 box but without the hassle of a new pedal box ect, i ask about the vr clusters as i wanted vr 1st and 2nd ratios and hte rest g60 ratios.
If they dont then i'll just stick with the 8v box
A:

ah I see, the internals from a G60/VR etc 02a box are completly different to the 020 box! The only way to do it would be to drop the 02a box in, but that requires a modified gearbox mount. Just stick with the origninal gearbox to save yourself a lot of hasle
Edit: The Seat Ibiza with the ABF lump has an 02a Hydro - Cable clutch adaptor mech fitted to the gearbox, which means you can use the std pedal box. But you would still need to fit the cable shifter somehow

I agree with rubjonny - stick with the 8V 'box.

AHA! i see, yeh think its for the best, was worth checking anyway
