Recently bought Mk4 1.8t and looking to increase power. Been told that 99 EGU can't be remapped and that I'd need to replace chip.
Anyone know if thats right and any suggestions on who would do this - there are so many out there!!!

Hmmm, good example of always speaking to the right people, as that sounds pants!
Any mk4gti 20vt can be remapped. The only concession, is that models <2000, benefit slightly less than models afterwards.
A popular choice for a generic remap is revo, who've dealers all over the uk.
Expect to pay 400ish for a 40ish hp gain.

As Seraph says, any Mk4 can be removed. My Y reg has had Revo on for the last 18 months and 50k miles (yes, I do a lot of mileage), and I think it's great.
You can pay a bit more and get a custom remap (e.g. MRC), but I wouldn't bother unless you are a racing driver that can tell the difference between a couple of bhp.
