A&Q about 350Z
Q:
OK i'm a few steps closer to getting my 20vt engine in my mk2 but am hoping someone can shed some light of a few things for me.
I'm not using oem management so will have to get the car setup properly at some point. so was wondering if i could get more power from fitting bigger injectors? if so what size? the APY internals will be standard as will the K04 turbo. what's the k04 capable of producing?
i think iv sussed the cooling system apart from the electric water pump. should it be on all the time the engine is running? also iv got to use the S3 temp sensor for the standalone but need to use my mk2 sensor for the temp gauge. is there a rubber water hose in the VAG range that a temp sensor will fit in to?
i assume that i junk most the vac system? if so, do i connect the top DV connection to the inlet mani?
Also does anyone know were i can get hold of a wiring diagram so i can ID what wires are what on the loom?
Thanks Rob

Not sure what the standard injectors are capable of, I used bosch 803's ( cossie greens ) when I first built my 20v running a ko4 hybrid. These were fine when I upgraded to IHI up to about 330bhp driven by DTA.
I've just sold these and fitted bosch 403's ( greys ) good for 400bhp.

stock TT injectors are more than capable of keeping up with a K04.
TT injectors are good for around 320bhp @ peak flow (4bar pressure) which is about as much as you'll get out of a K04 and manifold.
Gazhatt - are the cossie injectors low impedence (sp?) like the stock VW ones?

Yea the small vac line off of the DV goes to the inlet manifold.

If I remember rightly I think they are, 20v conversion was done over 6 years ago, I always meant to do a parts list for everything but never got round to it. I initially had some dark blue injectors - TT or S3 maybe? - on original fuel rail, but a couple were seeping so had a new rail made and used the green's to make it future proof!!!!
The cossies definately use the green's that I had and the grey's that are in now if that helps.

320bhp of fuel at 100% open. Injectors should be open for no more than 80% duty cycle unless they are racing injectors which will be used with ECUs with special injector drivers.

The Cossie units, Do they have a part no that goes 0 280 150 803?

not much help here I'm afraid, they definately ended in 803, I sold these and posted them in the boxes of the new grey's so I couldn't give you that number either. My tuner supplied them when mapping so I don't have a detailed receipt. I can find out on Monday for definate if any use?

These are the same "Ford Motorsport" units I bought from the US. I got them on my car they are 87bhp each wide open. There are high impedance.

well i ran my injectors on my TT engine at over 90% cycle for 3years with no problems at all. Still work perfectly now, (engine was running 275bhp at the wheels for 3years, now in a new car with the same).
I'm not arguing over what you are saying just stating what i have done previously.
Looking at your flow rate figures in the engine section for TT/S3 injectors... you state that TT injectors are good for 62bhp per injector but all of your figures are given for a 3bar pressure reg and a 4 bar pressure reg is found on TT/S3 engines. so working from your figures a TT injector should be good for approxamately 82bhp per injector (with a stock 4bar pressure reg) which tallies with my theory.

You can use the 20v temp sensor with a resistor to off set it fot the mk2 sensor, cant remember what the value is will try and find out.

Thanks peeps, everyones been most helpfull (as usual)
has the S3 got a 4 bar FPR?
A:
yea kenn,
all k04 equipped cars come with a 4bar FPR
A:
i used standard injectors on mine, with a t34 turbo, hit 249 bhp 5950rpm on only 10psi.
that was the max for standard injectors. couldnt rev any higher as the injectors were maxed.

couldn't of been TT/S3 injectors with a 4bar FPR then... else how would revo/custom code be getting 280ish with just a remap?
A:
no, i think their just golf 180 injectors. was told to get 440cc siemens for more boost. looking for 350ish. back on the dyno on the 5th december with new injectors. can get injectors for £200 from a1 rally. they told me cossie ones wont fit cos their to tall. mods would have to b made to the rail.
A:
yea makes sense. 440s are the way to go for 350ish bhp.
A:
yea kenn,
all k04 equipped cars come with a 4bar FPR
no Leon Cupra R's dont

Hmm that's a bit odd. How can revo claim 280 odd bhp then with just a remap? do they run larger injectors again??
thought some Leon Cupra Rs ran the same engine that i have from a TT (BAM code) i know the TT version has a 4bar FPR
Thanks for the correction though, don't want to mislead anyone.
