The beginning of a 16V G60.

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Alex, what pulley were you running with your 16vG60 setup and what max rpm?
A:

i was running standard pulley
A:

Ah cheers, that`s what I`m using, for the time being. Don`t think the G`s uip to a 7k hammering with smaller pulley..
A:

no way thats why im going turbo aswell
my engine was saoking up 3 psi of boost by the time it gets to 6500rpm and u cant push the charger so i see it pointless as it jsut seems to love boost :)
maybe its my cams and porting lol
A:

Sounds nice! Mine`s just got a set of kent`s in it (plus it`s a bit smaller capacity than yours ) so boost is pretty constant all the way from 2.5k to redline.
Good luck with the turbo, should be a bit of a beast
A:

ive already got some specially made cams for high torque f/i with no over lap in their already lol
but i cant wait to go turbo something about a car that has to much stupid more that puts a smile on my face lol
A:

How's it going Trev?
A:

Ah slowly mate, but I am still working on it - almost every other evening! In fact it's not the engine that's taking the time at the moment, but the MK2 shell that it's going into. That MK2 is, erm, a bit of a 'project' to say the least.
Tonight I was working on modifying the bulkhead so that I could fit the hydraulic clutch cylinder and Passat pedal box. Modifying the bulkhead involves a great deal of care and attention, much forward planning and years of engineering expertise. Fortunately, randomly tw*tting the hell out of it with various hammers works just as well
I've put the clutch and gearbox together and soon I'll have finished fiddling with the engine bay, so I'll drop the lump into the car.
Need to look into getting an intercooler at some stage. Steve at Pitstop tells me that they can provide custom intercooler designs. Might be worth a look - I trust those guys.
A:

Some nice pictures that were taken by Pitstop of my supercharger being rebuilt, including before and after images of the porting work, are
A:

they do bore the fck out of them
saw some full blends last week

BwaaHahahahaha
It's not violence, it's percussive maintenance
A:

How do you bore the f*ck out of a 'charger? Force it to read Azraels cut and posts all day?
A:

Looking good Trev
You do realise even when you get the motor in and started you`re only half way there
Get some 42lb`ers to start with, then you won`t waste your time tuning twice
A:

Oooooh yes, I do realise that. Don't worry, I shall be annoying you for help when I get to the tuning stage
Good tip about the injectors. I need some new ones anyway, because my G60 ones were donated to my mate's G40. Where did you get yours from mate?
Nah, not expecting this to be done overnight. I don't feel in any rush with it at all. Just trying to get a little done each day whenever possible.

A:

Will probably get it running on Digi before MS as well. Is that what you'd suggest, Keith?
A:

Get yer injectors from yank Ebay, they use them on a lot of the monster turbo Buick engines for tuning......
A:

Cheers Parz

well thankfully i didn't get to meet him when i was there last week, i think i might have put him in the skip if i had
A:

I`ve got some on order from G-werks, brand new bosch £115 for a set of 4.
I got mine running on dig1 first Trev, deffinitely a good idea just to make sure it runs before you try and Squirt it (so you don`t blame the MS or yourself )
Mine ran gash on digi1, pig rich at idle until closed loop and lean on boost, put most of it down to lumpy cams as I had to spend quite a bit of time tuning round these in MS (idle`s at 70kpa, quite high I believe?).
If you use the BBM chip to start with you`ll need the Greens in, but there`s no way these will fuel properly. I`ve got 350cc`s at the moment and these hit 100% duty cycle at 6500rpm on a stock 78mm pulley..

A:

70kpa is quite high, mine idles around the high 30's on standard KR cams.
A:

Trev, have you seen those FMIC that Jabba have started selling, about 600 quid i believe.
Saw you at Ragley, sadly was too busy marshalling to come and chat at the time.
A:

I did say hello to you as I came in, didn't I...? I'm pretty awful with faces sometimes!
Interesting about Jabba's intercooler. I know that there's many options and it's something I've got to spend more time looking into.
Keith, are you running your S2 intercooler together with water injection now? Wondering if I should spend so much money on an intercooler if you're having such good results with water injection.
A:

Yeah you did mate as you came through the gate.
Try these guys, they produce the FMIC for Jabba, product is not on the website, so best ring them.

A:

I`m running Aquamist WI only triggered through the MS ecu, temps never get over 45c but I could get lower with the S2 ic fitted as well I suppose, but the piping`s very short and neat at the moment so I`m leaving it like that for the time being. May experiment with a bigger jet as it`s running a 0.8mm at the moment, or maybe stage 2 jets?.
Not a lot of love about for WI only setups but mine`s been faultless so far!
